Quick Kid Snacks (fast and easy snack ideas)

These quick, easy, no-fuss snacks ideas are perfect for those cram-packed days. Easy snack prep for mom or kids!

( Please feel free to share your ideas as well. )

TIP: Try putting several snacks into a sectioned container, like a muffin tin, and leaving it on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator for kids to help themselves throughout the day!

Animal Crackers
Applesauce & cottage cheese
Apple wedges with peanut butter, yogurt, or fruit dip 
Avocado chunks
Carrot sticks with peanut butter
Celery with peanut butter (or cream cheese) & raisins
Cereal (dry or with milk)
Cheese cubes
Cheese quesadillas (microwave some cheese between 2 tortillas)
Chips & salsa
Cinnamon toast
Cottage cheese with canned fruit (pineapple, apricots, peaches, etc.)
Crackers with cheese or peanut butter
Fresh Fruit
Frozen grapes (Warning: choking hazard if kids under a certain age.)
Goldfish Crackers

Graham Crackers

Granola

Grilled cheese sandwiches
Homemade popsicles 
Mixed fruit snack cups
Muffins
Oatmeal with toppings (raisins, berries, milk & honey, granola)
Peanut butter on banana bread

TIP: Keep plenty of small plastic storage containers or zipper storage bags filled with portable snacks, ready to grab!

Microwave Potato Chips Recipe:

1 potato, sliced very thin
desired seasoning (salt, chili powder, garlic, taco, etc.)

Line glass turntable in microwave with parchment paper.
Place slices in single layer on paper (more than one batch may be necessary, depending on the size of your microwave tray)
Sprinkle seasoning over slices.
Microwave on high until brown spots begin to appear (4-6 minutes or so)
Turn off microwave for 1 minute.
Microwave on high again until potatoes are golden brown.
Allow to cool completely.


Sweet Potato Chips Recipe:

2 medium sweet potatoes
2 tsp. vegetable oil
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Heat oven to 400°F.
Coat a baking sheet with vegetable cooking spray.
Wash potatoes; Cut into thin slices and place in large bowl.
Drizzle oil over potatoes, tossing to combine.
Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, tossing in bowl to coat evenly.
Place slices in a single layer on prepared baking sheet, Bake 20 minutes.
Turn chips over and bake until slightly crisp, about 5 minutes.
Transfer to plate; cool 5 minutes and serve.
4-6 servings.

Cheesy Dill Popcorn Recipe:

8 cups popped popcorn
Nonstick cooking spray or melted butter
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 1/2 tbsp dried dill weed
1 tsp garlic salt

Put popcorn in large bowl.
Spray lightly with cooking spray (or drizzle with butter).
Toss popcorn, spray again.
Toss with parm and seasoning.
8 servings

Nacho Popcorn Recipe:

8 cups popped popcorn
Nonstick cooking spray or melted butter
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp pepper

Put popcorn in large bowl.
Spray lightly with cooking spray (or drizzle with butter).
Toss popcorn, spray again.
Toss with parm and seasoning.
8 servings.

Italian Popcorn Recipe:

6 cups popped popcorn
Nonstick cooking spray
2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp italian seasoning

Put popcorn in large bowl.
Spray lightly with cooking spray.
Toss popcorn, spray again.
Toss with parm and seasoning.
6 servings.

Cherry Popcorn Recipe:

10 cups popped popcorn
Cooking Oil Spray
1 pkg cherry flavored gelatin

Put popcorn into large oven safe dish.
Spray popcorn lightly with oil spray.
Sprinkle gelatin over popcorn.
Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes, stirring once.
Let cool before serving.

Crunchy PB Pita Recipe:

Pita
Peanut butter
1/2 apple, diced
1/2 cup applesauce
granola

Spread desired amount of peanut butter inside pita.
Put apple pieces and applesauce inside pita.
Sprinkle desired amount of granola on top.
Serves 1.

Crunchy Apple Rings Recipe:

apples, cored and sliced into rings
peanut butter
granola

Spread peanut butter on top of each apple ring.
Press granola on top of peanut butter.
Servings vary.

PB Pinwheels Recipe:

Peanut butter
Honey
1 flour tortilla
Granola (Try our Granola Recipe)

Spread peanut butter and honey on tortilla.
Sprinkle with granola.
Roll up the tortilla, then slice it into bite-size pinwheels.

PB Nanana Trifles Recipe:

1 cup plain yogurt
1 tbsp peanut butter
1/2 tbsp honey
1 banana, sliced
1 cup granola

Whisk together yogurt, peanut butter and honey until smooth.
Put half of yogurt mixture in each of two serving dishes.
Top with half of the banana slices and half of the granola.
Repeat layers.
2 servings.

TIP: Try serving these in sundae glasses.

Fruit S'Mores Recipe:

2 graham cracker squares
Peanut butter
Strawberries
or
Raspberries

Spread peanut butter on one side of each cracker.
Slice berries, place between crackers, s’more style.
Serves 1.

PB-Banana Freezer Grahams Recipe:

1 cup ripe mashed bananas
1 cup peanut butter
26 graham crackers

Combine bananas and peanut butter.
Spread 2 tbs onto each of 13 graham cracker squares; cover with second graham cracker.
Wrap with plastic wrap and freeze.
13 servings.

Freezer Yogurt Grahams Recipe:

Spread fruit-flavored yogurt on a graham cracker square, top with a second square. Wrap in plastic wrap and freeze.

Fruit Burritos Recipe:

4 6-inch tortillas
4 tbs peanut butter
1 banana, sliced
4 strawberries, sliced
1 peach, peeled & sliced (remove pit)
1/4 cup blueberries
4 tbs vanilla yogurt

Spread about 1 tbs peanut butter over each tortilla.
Place fruit slices down center of each burrito.
Drizzle 1 tbs vanilla yogurt over fruit.
Roll up tortilla, burrito-style (fold up one side, tuck under fruit, fold up bottom, then roll other side over).
4 servings.
