My oldest daughter is only 6 and i didnt know i would have to worry about boys this young. She is in first grade came home today with the biggest smile on her face and when we asked what made school fun today was because a boy asked her out! My 6 year old is now telling everyone she has a boyfriend. Anyone else have the same issue? im not freaking out because i know for right now it is all innocent.

Totally normal.  As I said in another post earlier today, I married Mikey on the playground at recess in kindergarten back in 1970 something.

This would be a good time to talk with her about what you think is appropriate behavior though.  Stuff like holding hands, calling him a "boy friend", etc.

I hear that this is pretty normal.  It's all cute and innocent.  They really have no concept what "going out" is and all.

Totally normal. Dd came home one day and announced she's going to marry one of the boys in our neighborhood who is in the other afternoon kindergarten class. She doesn't call him her boyfriend, they don't play together outside of school, but she's going to marry him and they "will live in a house, but I don't know what we'll name the babies yet."

I don't dh is quite ready for this : )

Yes I think that is a common issue I don't agree with it. Personally I believe children are exposed to adult issues. Children are more commonly seeing there parents date random people and also see them kiss these random people when they shouldn't. Not to mention tv then if they around high schoolers at school or on the bus. Really I think our children are having to much exposure to adult situations.

while i agree that children now are exposed to way too much adult stuff. This is still a normal issue. My son isnt allowed to watch most tv shows, and has never seen anyone in a random relationship, and he still is *in love* with a girl at school.
