My sons Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts is Feb 26th. There are 4 boys who are earning their Arrow Of Light awards. For those of you who don't know, The Arrow Of Light is the highest award a Cub Scout can earn. It's a very big deal to the parents and the pack as a whole. We asked my BIL to make the Arrow Of Lights Plaques because he owns his own engraving business and does beautiful work. When I saw the plaques everything was amazing, but the date was wrong. He put Feb 28, 2012, instead of Feb 26, 2012. I took the matter to the committee and they wanted them done again. My husband was furious at me for making a big deal out of it.
Would it bother you if your son earned the award, but the date was wrong on the plaque? My hubby said it's not that big of a deal and in 20 years no one is going to care.
Please give me your honest opinion and not tell me what you think I would like to hear.
honestly, yes it would bug me. If it can be corrected, then it should be.
The guy made a mistake and it should be corrected. 20 years from now yea maybe they wouldn't remember if it was the 26th or the 28th, but when they receive them they would know.
That is the thing, he has to redo the whole plaque over again because all the info is burned into the wood plaque.

That is exactly what I thought also.
I'm assuming your BIL donated the plaques? If it was explained that they were donated the mix up with the date wouldn't bother me.
But if they were paid for I would expect to have redone.
What did your BIL say? I don't know how much time and cost something like that is for him. Maybe it's no big deal for him to redo them.

I would only want them fixed had I paid for them. If he did this as a favor I wouldn't say anything.
We did pay for them. Granted it was at an extreme discount, but we did pay for them.

We paid for them. It's basically redoing the entire plaque part of it. Some of the parts can be removed and reput on the new plaque.

If you want them fixed then I would offer to pay the rest of the true price.

That's a good idea. I will talk to my hubby tonight.
