How old is he?
Ds1 (12 1/2, 7th gr) was, I suspect, doing a lousy job brushing to avoid having braces put on. (Orthodontist said he couldn't put them on until ds1 did a consistantly better job brushing) I finally flat-out asked if that was why; got "I don't know" as an answer. I just bluntly told him that if he did not get braces, his teeth would get more crooked, his overbite would get worse, and when he gets into high school, he WILL get teased about it. Suddenly, his brushing has gotten MUCH better, he's getting spacers put in next week, and top brackets the following wk.
Don't know if that would work for you, but it's an idea. . .

I would stand in the bathroomn with him and make sure he did it. He doesn't get out until he gets them done correctly.
My son does not have braces yet. He wants them but I have to stand in bathroom to make sure he brush his teeth. I agreed with Melissa.
