Buses cancelled = Snow day?

When I was a kid if the buses were ever cancelled due to weather my Mom kept us home from school, even though we didn't take a bus. Now I'm not sure if I should be doing the same with my son, only because he's missed more school than he should be because of dentists appointments. His school buses are cancelled today and my sister says keep him home, but I feel like I should still send him in...

What do you ladies do when the buses are cancelled?

Ummm, we never had a day like that.  Either school is cancelled or it isn't.

That's how it is here. They don't cancel buses but still have school.

I would think no buses = no school. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair for the bus-riders to have off, but not the walkers/car riders.

We don't have the bus cancellations- either school is closed or it's not.

Maybe call the school and ask?

I've decided to keep him home, don't want to drag 3 little ones out for a walk and don't want to risk driving lol. I also don't understand why they'd keep school open but cancel buses...

2 moms liked this

That sounds very dangerous IMO.  If the roads are too bad for the buses, then they are too bad to drive on.  How are the teachers getting to school if the roads are too bad to drive on?  If the roads are so bad, then I would venture a guess that the sidewalks aren't safe either.  So why put lives in danger?

I've never heard of the busses being cancelled and school still being in. I've always thought it was a cause and effect. If someone, say, went and let the air out of all the buss tires so they couldn't run, school would be out until they could run again.
