My Daughter is such a sweet heart! She told me the other day that she was crying in her room that night. I said, Alley, why, what happened? She said, I miss God and Jesus. I want to see them. I said, well, I hope thats many many life times away. She said, when we are sad, we need to speak up and not be shy. Then she says mommy, I dont think I can help everyone pay for their house, I may not have that much money. I said Alley, hun thats ok, you dont have to do that, just be there for people when they need you. She said, I want to get can foods so I can feed people. Awww! I love her so much! She is always thinking of others. I have always told her to help others and never to expect things in return. I have raised such a sweet girl and I hope she continues to be this sweet. What can a 6 year old do in her community to help others. Do you have any ideas what she can do to volunteer at her age?

Ds just turned 7. A couple years ago, we started volunteering with our church. On the last Sunday of the month, we go to this very low income apartment complex. We hand out stuff (school supplies in August, winter gear in October, toiletries sometimes, etc.), serve a hot lunch, play basketball (we bring portable hoops), and basically have a little block party. We also usually give some groceries out. Ds loves going. If you're involved in a church, that would be a great start.

How about animal shelters? I signed up to volunteer at ours and they said ds could come with. Or a food pantry.

We also have this huge event here at the fairgrounds one day each summer. It's the North East Ohio Convoy of Hope. Ds volunteers there with me. We've given out water bottles and new shoes there. They also offer groceries, pet supplies, haircuts, family portraits, a job fair, health screenings, a hot meal, entertainment, kids carnival, clothing, and more. If anything like that goes on in your community, you could try to get involved.

The dumb friends league or your local animal shelter always need volunteer dog walkers or people to love on the kitties. Great place for kids!
