Ugh! Why are people so rude and inconsiderate?
Last night, my sons' school had an art and music program. My oldest son was singing in the music portion. The art was on display for you to look at after the music program. Well, as usual, there were rude people in the back of the gym, talking, laughing, being extremely loud while the kids were singing. I hate that. I mean, it was in the gym/cafeteria where sound echos and carries. These kids were singing their hearts out for their parents and supporters, and these people have to be rude. At one point, the music director stopped the kids and had to ask the parents to be quiet. I'm sorry, that's just wrong. She should not have to ask the parents to shut up so that their children can sing for them. What was the point in coming if you weren't going to listen to your child sing?
That's a damn shame. But HOORAY for that music director!
That happened when my son was in elementary as well. His school had a 4th grade music show and some of the parents were unbelievably rude.
That's what I said. I told her so, after the show was over. I remember being in band in high school, and before the concert even began, my band director gave a lecture to the audience on concert etiquette. It did actually help. He pretty much told the audience that if they couldn't sit still and be quiet, then they would be escorted out.
Quoting auroragold:That's a damn shame. But HOORAY for that music director!
Honestly,
I SEE PART OF THE PROBLEM..
Our school has a rule that everyone must turn off phones and be quiet.
But the thing is you see people at the school you haven't seen since last year.. So it is like a high school reunion almost.. atleast for me since I grew up in this same community.
But we usually talk etc before and after.. the concert.. Not during.. You are right.. it is tacky and rude.. But I see why parent's might be talking.
I agree!! That is totally uncalled for, you go to listen to you're children...its not like you are at a party or something...
