I am sick as a dog. OK maybe I am being little dramatic. Today I went to work and now I am home. I am going to make sure my son is ready for bed and call it nite. I wish I can stay home to tomorrow but the bills won't let me. What do you do when you sick?

Get up & continue with my day as normal including taking the kids to school & picking them up from the bus stop, unless it is a migraine then I am in bed and hubby stays home until the kids go to school, then the kids stay at the after school program until hubby picks them up.

When i am sick with a cold i keep going on with mh day
If i am sick with a flu and all achey i take some ibuprofen and try to continue on with my day, the kids just watch more tv than normal.
One time i had morning sickness and flu all at the same time. I had my then 2 year old son who i just put him in the play room and set the gate up while i layed on the couch. I still managed to change jis diapers, make meals, and fold my laundry. Then when my husband came home from work and my son was down for a nap, my husband wakes me up, as soon as he woke me up i got up to throw up and he tells me i look like shit. I was mad and said really i am sicker than a dog, managed to do my chores and take care of our son and you tell me i look like shit. He didnt even help me out later on that night.
Another time for my oldest first bday i was sick. I was achey, fever, and vomiting but i was not going to let it ruin his first bday party. So i got the cake and went to my moms and asked for dayquil. I took it and was ok to get through his party. I got home put all his new roys and clothes away and went to bed and my husband told me i stink like sick, i said because i am, he the. Said why did u act not sick i said cuz i was not ruining our sons bday party.
So as u can see i try very hard not to let it get to m since no one will hep me and my husband just jokes with me.

1 mom liked this

Unless I'm throwing up or running a fever, I continue on as normal for the most part.  Fortunately, I have a job where I can work at home if necessary so if I'm sick I'll grab my laptop and spend the day working in bed.  My husband and I are a team so if one of us is out of commission, the other picks up the full responsibility of taking care of the kids when they're home from school.

Take medication, fill up on fluids and rest when I can. I can't afford to be sick really!

Quoting Traci_Momof2:

My company gives us unlimited sick time so taking the time off of work is no problem.  They'd rather us stay home and get better than come into work and spread germs around.

As for the kids, during the day they go to school/daycare like normal.  In the evening, DH takes care of them.  When I'm sick I curl myself up in a ball and don't do anything until I'm better.

WOW--Where do you work? My company says they want you to stay home when you are sick, but if you have no sick time, you are disciplined or possibly fired.

Our older kids are able to help out with our lo's if they aren't in school. Ill put something in the crock pot for dinner but they are fully capable of getting cereal for breakfast and making a sandwhich for lunch.

If its just me and the lo's I will lock my bedroom door so they don't tear up the house and veg out with nick jr. I can usually get rest that way and they will let me know when they are hungry or thirsty.

If DH isn't out on a job though he will stay at home and let me sleep :)
