My daughter is five and I signed her up for a week long summer camp for 5-7 year-olds. Today they had a field trip and I was the only one who brought the full sized car seat. One kid had a booster with a back and all the rest had just the bottom part of the booster. Oh, and one girl was "big enough" not to need anything. I totally didn't think that that was okay at all. My daughter's car seat goes up to 85 lbs and she is supposed to outgrow it before she moves up to booster. How are all these kids in these dinky little seats? I thought they had to be 8 before they could be in a booster without a back.
This one doesn't say anything about whether or not the booster needs a back or not, but it does require booster until age 8 and 4'9. The girl who didn't bring a booster was not that big.
Same with this one.
This last one is a recommendation, but it refers to a belt positioning booster for kids up to 4'9 and betwee ages 8-12. Belt positioning means high back.
Also, they all say not to move to booster until the child outgrows the car seat. How have all these kids outgrown their seats when mine is no where close? She doesn't look smaller than the other kids. Am I missing something?
Also, I did see one mom wrestling to get the back part back onto her booster seat after the field trip. I guess that's how she usually rides, but didn't want to send her daughter on the field trip that way.
AT WHAT AGE/WEIGHT DID YOU SWITCH FROM CAR SEAT TO BOOSTER?
