Sorry for any typos I miss, I'm mobile lol.
This coming year DD will start kinder. The school days for the entire elementary school are from 8: 15am to 2 pm every day except Wednesdays they get out at 1 pm. That's only a few more hours than she was going to half day preschool from 9 am to 12 pm. I'm just wondering what normal school hours look like where you are.
Good to know! I just found out that kids here don't even have to go to kinder unless they took advantage of VPK in which case they do have to. I always thought Kinder was mandatory :D
Quoting education_mom:Hi, that's actually a pretty long day for kindergarten -- is it considered a full day, which is great! The number of instructional minutes that are required by law are different state to state. So it will vary a great deal. In CA, it's half day in most districts, it isn't required by law to even attend K, and if you do want a full day, districts usually charge for it or you have to go to private school. This is our current dilemma--public or private. I wrote about it on educationmom. Google it if you're interested since I am not allowed to post a URL.
If I am not mistaken the first week was a half 8am to 12pm after the first week is over my son hours was full time 8am to 3pm. He is attending a charter school.
1st - 4th grades (our elem. only goes up to 4th) is 9 - 3:30. A.M. kindergarten is 9 - 11:30, and P.M. is 1 - 3:30.
The middle school (5th - 8th grades) is 7:40 - 2:40.
