OT-anyone else? UPDATE IN BLUE

I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago.  I thought I was going through perimenopause so the doctor did blood tests for hormones and thyroid.  I finally got a hold of them today, somehow, they didn't have my correct phone number, and they said that I have a hyperactive thyroid.   So, now I have to see the specialist.  The nurse is supposed to fill out the paperwork and the send it to him and they'll call with an appointment.  Anyone been through this?

I wish now I was going through perimenopause.

I go to the specialist tomorrow to see what the course of action.  All the research I have done says leads to surgery.  Something I don't want because every time I have had surgery, something went wrong, nothing major but my scars are bigger than other people who have had the same surgery.

My thyroid is the other way. I am hypo. which means its harder to lose weight. I didn't see a specialist just my regular doctor and meds for the rest of my life.

Well, it was ordered by my regular doctor to see the specialist.

I had labs done and it showed hyperactive thyroid... My grandma has it too. But the Dr wanted to test it again in 6 weeks before putting me on meds. We tested again and it was normal, she said stress can cause the thyroid to be over active, I must have been overly stressed at that time. That is all the info I have.
