My 10 yr old son throws a fit about everything. If I tell him to brush his teeth, it's a big fit. Then that escalates into none of his friends have to do it, they get to do whatever they want, I'm a bad mom, everyone hates him. Then I end up taking stuff like his DS away from him. Then his friends are playing theirs & he gets mad that I don't let him have play his. His friends do have more stuff but they also seem to have a better attitude. Is it just my son or is this common with kids this age? I feel horrible everytime we argue. It's affected my time with my daughter & my husband also. I wonder what I can do, I don't want this but sometimes I just want him to live with someone else. Help, please
All kids go through that stage. It happens early on and again as they get ready to enter tweens. It could be testing the boundaries to see what he is now allowed to do and not do and/or it could be that he is getting ready to start puberty Stay consistent in how you handle it and the consiquences that you give him. This shall pass. My daughter is 9 and going through the same thing. HUGS
