Would you purchase a nook or kindle for your child

My son is eight and I am debating if I should get him a nook for him for Christmas. He usually used my nook and download sample books. Would you buy a nook or kindle for your child?

As much as my 7yo loves my Nook Color I don't know that I'm ready to get him one of his own.  We got a great deal on a Kudu reader (Borders) and gave it to him for Christmas last year, but it's mostly a big MP3 player for him because we haven't figured out how to get new books on it (nor taken the time to figure it out).  He loves to read so some day he'll either get mine or a new one of his own.  My only concern with getting him one now is that he tends to play the games more than read when he borrows mine...and the cost even though they keep coming down!

Yes I would, as long as he'd take care of it.

I'd be more likely to buy him his own before id ever lend him mine. Kids just dont need to see some of the "covers" on those romance ebooks.

If I knew he was responsible enough to take care of it and know when to use it (meaning it isn't left on the floor, brought to school, etc), then maybe. But right now, with my son? Not a freakin chance

If my children were responsible enough, wanted one, and it encouraged reading, and I could afford it, yes. :) I don't have either, not my 'thing', if I want to read a book, I read a paperback, or use my iPad. Like with a cell phone. We did get our dd an iPod touch for her 7th bday, and she does take care of it. :)
