So I finally got the supply list for our 5th grader. Since the 5th grade goes to the middle school things are now completely different for our family in school supplies. Our dumb middle school has teams, and We won't be finding out what team my SS is on until Aug 7th which is a whole week AFTER the free tax weekend. I just went through each group and priced everything. The cheapest group is $48 in supplies, and the most expensive is $79. Granted I might have a few things at home (like the #2 pencils, and come of the folders) but that is just redicouls. After I FB my rant some of the older Middle school parents said it works like this every year and there is never a way to prepare. I went through our two first graders list and a lot of the stuff we still have from last year so we are only spending $40 on each kid. My ex always pays half (if not more last year he paid for all of it plus new shoes) but my stepsons mom could give a crap less. She won't send CS (she has been telling us its in the mail for the last 3 weeks) and I know we won't see a cent for this even though we told her we really could use the help this year. I'm just really happy that my kids don't need new school clothes, only two of them need new tennis shoes but I can deal with that in September. I work a min wage job, and DH owns a business but just has not been making any extra money the last month (computer repair business is always slow in summer) I have $40 set back for my daughters supplies and have been adding what I could to the boys because I took half of it out when my relay in my car went out. Oh well life goes on just gives me another reason to Homeschool when I'm done with my BA program. Last year I was told that the "cheap" stuff didn't work and NOT to send it 4 times by the school I told them that unless they are paying the difference I was still buying the cheap stuff lol. the amounts I listed is the cheapest stuff possible and split up costs between things that the other kids need and myself for college. I'm an accountant so I've always done the bulk and seperate out where available.
