What do you do when its really hot outside, you are stuck with no car or money? I have a 5 1/2 yr old, 4 yr old and a 22 month old. Any ideas? I know they love playing in the water, so that is one idea. Maybe some games when the youngest is napping. My mind is blank, what else? lol

Build a fort, bake something or do some crafting, play in the sprinklers, read together.

so, now my 5 1/2 yr old has a hurt ankle, don't know how he did it, probably from just being aboy, and is limping :(

So, any crafts that your kids LOVE?

I love the foam crafts. Walmart has the foam stickers (bunch of different kinds) that you can buy different foam mats, frames and stuff to decorate. No glue needed, no scissors. So its great for all your kids.

One thing that my kids love to do is have a car wash. They pull out their ride on toys and bikes and wash them with a bucket full of dish soap and water. We also make our own playdough and finger paints. You can find recipies on line for the playdough and paints. :)

sound fun and productive. Theonly problem is that I don't have a car today and my 5 yr old's son needs to stay off his ankle (he hurt it last night :(

Maybe we can do playdough

Home made puffy paint with glue, shaving cream and food coloring is really fun. Messy, but fun!

I also used to do bubble painting when I worked with preschoolers.

You add some paint to bubble mix and put a few inches in the bottom of a cup. Then have the kids use straws to blow bubbles like you would in milk. when the bubbles are higher than the rim of the cup they lay paper on it and press gently. They can do a few different colors on one sheet. They turn out really pretty

If he likes to paint you can pull out a muffin tin and fill all the cups with water and different colors of food coloring. Or if you have a deck, sidewalk or porch they could paint with just plain old water.

When the kids are tired of being outside, we do arts and crafts, and play board games.  The kids also get dressed up in old Halloween costumes and put on a show in the livingroom.  They use items from around the house to use for a set and they create a mini stage, complete with curtains made from blankets.  Another fun idea that my kids like to do is, taking paper lunch bags, or old socks, and making hand puppets with markers, paints, and craft supplies.  After they make the puppets, they put on a puppet show.
