My son hates most of the school lunches and he doesn't like bread. So I am trying to think of some things I could send him for lunch that don't need to be heated up and are not sandwiches. Does anyone have any good ideas?

Does he like crackers? you could send him with some PB&C! you may laugh but my son thinks they are awesome. Ants on a log are another favorite I have sent to school with him.
No, he is such a wierd eater. That is why I'm having such a hard time thinking of things. The only grains he will really eat are pancakes or noodles. He hates peanut butter or really anything sweet other than fruit or sweet tea. He likes almost all fruits and vegitables (except corn or lettuce) so that part is easy. He also likes almost any meat but he only likes them hot.
i have a friend whose daughter will only eat cold noodles tossed with parmesan cheese for lunch at school. you could try doing pasta salads since he does like pasta & veggies. veggie sticks & dip. since he doesn't like pb have you tried other nut butters? almond, cashew, etc. how about nutella or jiff's new hazelnut spread.
you can make thin silver dollar pancakes & make sandwiches out of them if he'll eat other nut butters.
I'd say try the thermos idea for some hot stuff. I've never tried it myself but have heard of other moms having success with that. Just heat the food up nice and hot in the morning and heat the thermos up too with hot water.
Otherwise, if he doesn't like tortillas, try making a bunch of pancakes, as thin as you can, and wrap all sorts of different things up in the pancake. Use the pancake like you would a tortilla, but hopefully he would be more hip to the idea of a pancake since you said it's one of the only grains he likes. If he ends up liking that, you can make a huge batch of pancakes at a time and freeze them in smaller quantities. Just take out one weeks worth at a time to thaw.
Thanks for the link. I saved it to my favorites to go through later. I think many of those lunch ideas will be helpful for both my 2nd grader who doesn't like pb and my K'er who doesn't like meat. I have to get a little creative with both.

My kids food stays warm in the thermos and leftovers are generally still lukewarm when they get home. It's weird!
My suggestion would be shish-kabobs. Try squared chicken or turkey, then a veggie he likes, different veggie, rotate it up. Then do a second one with fruit and maybe a veggie like jicama mixed in. Give him a small cup of ranch dressing or barbecue sauce (something he likes on the side). Once the grilling season is officially over, supposedly Labor Day Weekend, but NOT, the little sticks will go on sale all over the place. I stock up. They're also cheap in the beginning of the year. I put them in a container or admittedly aluminum foil when I didn't get the containers washed in time.

Quoting aj23:My son is the same way, I finally got him to at least try a PB sandwich last night for the first time. He ended up opening it up and licking the peanut butter off and throwing away the bread.
For school I got a thermos and he eats a lot of soup which he likes. I've sent him with spaghetti o's and mac and cheese every now and then too. Pretty much anything small can be kept warm in there. I've sent popcorn chicken before and it stayed warm. His lunch was always the thermos with the food, one with a drink and a gogurt, apples, crackers or something small like that. He never ate much but the drink was still cold and the food was still warm when he got home so he could eat the rest here.We always make our kids try foods every so often. He's had peanut butter 5 or 6 times but he still hates it. Maybe I'll try the thermos. I didn't think they would keep food warm for very long so I haven't tried that.
How about chopped up lunch meat or another type of meat like chicken? Put cubbed cheese in there also. You don't need bread for that and then add veggies or fruit.
I came across this on pinterest last night and thought about this post. It has some good ideas and Im going to try the apple sandwiches on my son since he does eat peanut butter. It's also geared towards non processed foods so that's a bonus.
