Okay, so I say to my dh that we really should get the kids into a school bedtime schedule before school actually starts especially my ds since this is the first year he will have to get up early for school. I was thinking starting over the weekend or next week. Problem is that bedtime is 8:30-9:00 and it doesn't even get dark til 9:30 or so. That and kids are used to staying up a little late because of summer time. Any ideas or suggestions?

What's a good bedtime for a 5 year old going into kindergarten? I'm seeing alot of 8 pm on here. We would be getting up about 6:30-6:45am.
Gradually start waking them up closer and closer to the time they would have to get up for school, like 30 minutes closer every few days, so they are able to fall asleep early at night as they will be more tired, then just set the bedtime, tell them thats when they are to be in bed. If its still light out, do you have dark curtains?
My DD falls asleep any where from 8:30-10:30. That is ok with me. BUT if you wanted to get them on routine, start waking them up early so they will become tired by that time.
