So what's the big deal with having new underwear for the start of school?
i dont buy my boys underwear or socks just bc school is coming back in....i had to buy my youngest socks when i went school shopping thats only bc he needed them, my oldest son doesnt need any socks or underwear right now. i just buy them as they need them and thats it.
I don't usaully but them with school shoppping it just worked out that way. My kids are in sandals and flip flops all summer so I haven't had to buy them but they are need new ones for school.
I buy it at the start of school because that's when the bonus packs are out. I know he will need new at some point in the year and if I can buy it now, on sale and get a few more pairs per pack then I would rather do that.
Of course no one will see their underwear, but it's the time of the year when I do a big chunk of shopping, and it's just easiest financially to replace worn out things then. When I go to Target for school supplies, I'll just pick up some new socks, underwear, etc, while I'm there.
And as far as socks go, my kids both wear uniforms, and can only wear specific colors of socks. So, their socks they wear primarily to school are usually ratty by the time the next school year rolls around, and are ready to be replaced. Same thing with my son's white t-shirts, which he mostly only wears under his uniform polo shirts -they're usually ready to be replaced by the time next school year rolls around.
My daughter will be starting high school this fall, and she can only wear the plaid uniform skirt with navy blue or black tights. She doesn't own any tights, as they weren't required for her elementary school uniform, so now I have to go buy her some tights.
I don't get it either. What do you do if your kid doesn't do much growing until the winter and you just bought them new underwear at the start of school in the same size that they had been wearing? That doesn't make any sense to me.
My boys get all their clothing and shoes when they need them, meaning when their current ones are either worn badly or outgrown. I don't do any clothing shopping this time of the year because the clothing that they are currently wearing still fits them and it is too early to be thinking about winter clothing.
