Catwings dilemma - chapter books for a kindergartner
Dilemma: my husband will only let me spend $25 on books at Amazon (super saver shipping, or course), b/c dd has tons of books already. Do I get her all 4 Catswings books for $15 (4-for-3 promotion), or get her the first one and spend ~$10 on a few other books. To get to the ~$25, I also have The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes and Lady Lollipop by Dick King-Smith. My daughter is going on 6 and entering Kindergarten this fall. These are all beginner chapter books. If you don't go with the Catswings series, any suggestions for one or two more books at this level?
Note: This is probably a stupid question above, but I LOVE buying books for her, and am asking this seriously! LOL
No clue. I do not know that series at all. DD is 6 and loves Mo Willems as an author. She has a few fancy nancy books.
I saw a lot of his books on a kindergarten reading list, but I have to avoid picture books. The shelves are bulging with them already and hubby wouldn't agree. It's not that I have to listen to him, but he's right about only spending $25 - I mean we can go to the library if we have to and books aren't really in the budget (that I created) right now.

I'm reading them to her. The Boxcar Children is something I hadn't thought of. I thought it was for older kids (7+ on Amazon), but if your 5-year-old likes them, maybe mine would, too. It's worth a try getting one of them to start. I'm looking them up right now...

Are you reading them to her? My 5 year old is in love with boxcar children right now. Hubby found the first 13 books free online so we put them on my kindle. My son can read but he likes me to read these to him.
Why not pack the excessive ones away or donate them to another child who doesnt have the opportunity buy books? LOL We do alot of library visiting since DD loves to read. Also alot of his books are read on YouTube so that saves me reading time as well. DD loves when it is a child reading the book.
