School starts in two weeks! Do we start waking up early now?
I can not believe the summer is almost gone! School starts in two weeks and my oldest child is starting Kinder.
How soon do you start breaking the summer schedule?
Do you go cold turkey so to speak?
Or is a more gradual adjustment better?
My kids start one week from today. DH is home with them today and let them sleep until 8:30. I think they actually woke up a few minutes before that on their own. He said something about letting them gradually get used to waking up early by waking them up 30 minutes earlier every morning. I'm not sure how that will work though since we will both be leaving the house by 7:00 every morning. I usually carry my 7 y/o into daycare, but this week I plan on making her wake up before she goes and no naps. If she takes a nap, she's up until 11:00 and coming in my room every five minutes to wake me up to tell me she can't sleep.
People will prabably hate me, but my kids do not sleep in. My sons is estactic about going back to school, and hasn't gotten into the habit of sleeping in late. (Now me, I"m the exact opposite. I wish they would sleep in, so I can sleep in)
If you can do it, I would start the scedule now.
My daughter started band camp yesterday as well and it's killing her getting up so early!
I'm starting earlier bedtimes this week. My 1st grader is going to bend at 8 pm. It's hard because my older kids have a later bedtime and she is questioning why they get to stay up and she can't.

That sucks. I'm not sure if my boys getting up between 9:30-10:00 is worse than that. lol

IDK. My kids wake up earlier in the summer naturally than they do during the school year with alarms. SMH.
9:30-10 sounds like heaven!!! My kids are usually up by 6am. Last week my boys had their friends here and all 4 boys kept getting up at 5:15. Grrrr!
BUT, band camp start tomorrow and my oldest has to be there by 8am all week. My luck they will all want to sleep in! lol

My dd has been going to be early since the beginning of the month. I haven't started getting her up early yet, but I want to do that maybe a couple of times before school starts, jut to get her used to it.
I am the one that has the hardest time adjusting . The kids naturally get up early .
My kids get up around the same time with or without an alarm. Also it does not matter when they go to bed, even if they stay up late, they wake up at the same time. We have a new puppy so it will be hard, but we will be starting to make bedtime a bit earlier each night.
- 8:00 - jammies on
- by 8:30 - go up to brush teeth and get in bed for story time and sleep
