I normally don't do this but I am one proud mama. My one son has had maturity issues especially in kindy but I thought he came a long way maturity and school work. He cared about pleasing others and began to work very hard. Still for mainly maturity reasons his teacher wanted to retain him. Deep in my gut I knew this would not be good for him as he likes to be challenged. Yes I don't want him to struggle but life is not about removing obstacles to make things easier. My philosophy is that you learn more if you are presented with a challenge and overcome it. So we worked very hard with him over the summer and he is just about to finish his first week in first grade. I get an email tonight from his teacher saying how impressed she is with him and he has had a wonderful week and that he is a star! I am feeling a little validated. Also at football practice the coach singled him out for his intensity and determination. I am so proud he has come a long way.
