*EDIT* Have/will you walk(ed) your child to their first day of kindergarten?
So on the 6th my first baby is officially a kindergartener!! I want to do what my mother always did with us and that is to let us get on the bus, then meet at the school and walk us to class. I got a letter though at orientation that says to wave good bye at the bus stop and the kids are in "good hands" and that they have aides to help them to class. Kind of sounds like I will not be welcomed to walk him to class... So what does everyone think about this?
-edit-
So I called the school and I'm crying... They said no parents or anyone is aloud to walk the kids to class and I'm seriously heart broken. I'm glad I called though so I don't look like an ass trying to walk him to his class... I am just really upset because that's my baby : (

I walked my 2nd and 3rd grader. The school knows me and I'm part of the PTA so it's no big deal. Actually my 3rd grader is in a new school and the lunch ladies thought I was a new aid in his class. (special needs)

I took DD to her class. They asked we did not but she was too worried so I walked her back so she would not freak out. Once she was back in her class and she saw she did know people and where the class was she was fine. That has been the only day I have walked her in this year.

It's a subtle way of telling you to stay home. The first day is chaotic enough without the moms who just can't let go flooding the school. Take your pictures at home and after you put your child on the bus do something nice for yourself to celebrate!

I did with all my girls. Each time the teacher read The Kissing Hand with parents there..sort of like a send-off. I still take the day off work, take them to their first day and walk them to the door.

I walk my kids to their classrooms the first day, and several times through the year. But its a small school and parents are welcome to come in at any time.

Celebrate? That's okay... I still have a 3.5 year old and he was in preschool last year 3 days a week so I can let go, I just want to walk him to class and I'm going to.
