How many of your kids have had a male teacher?

Tonight was Meet your Teacher for my 5th grader. He has been hoping for weeks he would get the teacher who has been the science specialist but was given a classroom this year, and he did. He's very excited. I'm curious to see if his teaching style is different. First male main teacher either of my boys has had in elementary. Have any of your kids had a male teacher and did you notice any marked differences from a female teacher?

My son had a male teacher's assistant, but that's about it. I never had a male teacher till jr high, myself.

My oldest son has 2 male teachers this year and had 2 male teachers last year.  I didn't notice a difference at all.  At our school the students have a different teacher for each of their core subjects - math, science, social studies, and language arts.

Ds has a male teacher. This is his first year in school, he's in kinder.

My prek teacher was a female and my kinder teacher was male. I loved him soo much! I had him again in second grade. My favorite teacher EVER! Lol

Last year was the first year. My son had a male teacher for homeroom and a male teacher for reading. All four of our 5th grade teachers are male. The main difference I noticed was how my son's confidence soared. There was just something about having strong, but fair and kind male teachers. Of course personality and style comes into it and they were both the kinds of teachers who are good at focusing on the positives about each kid. I also think my son felt comfortable with his teacher because my son knew that I knew his teacher from my schoo daysl (he graduated a year behind me).

Now in 6th grade we are back to an all female team.

My DD is starting K with male teacher next week.  We've met him a few times already, and he seems great.

My son had a male teacher last year for kindergarten. We both loved him! He has a female teacher this year but we're only 4 days in so I can't really compare the two yet.

Ds2 and dd only have male teachers for Music and S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math)- specials they have once a wk. Ds2 has always loved music class, and dd is loving S.T.E.M. Oh, and the occasional substitute.

Ds1 has had a male teacher for orchestra since 5th gr (middle school), so this school yr is the 4th yr he's had him. He loves the teacher and class.

I haven't noticed any difference between male and female teachers when meeting them briefly at Open Houses.

My kids haven't had a male teacher as of yet but I had one in 5th and 6th grade and I can tell you that they were the best two teachers that I ever had. I learned more from them than with any other teacher I had in elemetary school. They were also more understanding and I could talk to them about anything. I hope your son has a great year with this teacher.
