When my oldest went to kindergarten I freaked out a little too but my neighbor kids offered to get him to his class and get him on the right bus after school soy worry was gone the teachers are really good at putting them on the right bus as long as u tell tem what bus the child will ride my youngest just started kindergarten and I knew his teacher was gonna make sure my baby gets to the right place.

Mine didn't start riding the bus until this year, in 3rd & 4th grade.  When my daughter goes to Kindergarten next year, I'll drive her, but still let the boys ride the bus if they want to.

DD takes the bus.  Her school is very careful about the little kids and buses.  Teachers have a list of what kids get on what bus, their bags are color tagged with the bus number and it's supposedly been years since they've had a mix up with the system.  The downside is they won't allow kids to take the bus to friends houses after school because it would alter the bus list, other arrangements have to be made.  That's a bit down the road anyway.

Have you had a "back to school" night yet?  We had one last wednesday, school started on Monday, and they went over the bus procedure and had the kids take a ride on the bus.  Well the ones that would get on anyway.  Of course my kiddo went happily, even though she's a walker!  I'm impressed with the school though, the principal announces the bus numbers to be dismissed and staggers them over the first week and there are aides to take the little ones to the bus line.  Kiddo's teacher personally walks her over to the walker area so we're very lucky that we have little to worry about.  The bussers and car kids also wear little tags around their necks, and the bigger kids help the little ones.  Mine has hooked up with a 1st grader who makes sure I'm there before he runs off with his friends.  Hope everything goes well!  The first few days are the most stressful.

They place a lamented bright yellow tag on all the kids backpack here with their first name teachers name and bus number and if some one isn't at the stop ti pick them up after school they bring the back to school where they wait in the front office till they can contact you or your emergency contact and teachers escort them if the bus and into their class in the mornings. Talk to your principal and see what their system is? My sons principal and teacher and I keep in pretty regular contact via email and phone.ask as many questions as you can.our school encourages questions and comments

I'm sure if you call the school they could walk you through their routine.  Usually they want to keep the parents as calm as possible.  Good luck with the move!

My daughter is a car rider. We feel she is just to young to ride the bus this yr. If she wants to ride the bus nxt yr or in 2nd grade we will let her.

We live too close to the school for them to ride the bus (the HS is right across the street and the Elementary is right behind it) but even if we didn't, I refuse to let my children ride the bus.
