Kindergarteners reading before entering school?!?! (Edit in post)
How many of your K's were full fledged reading before entering K? I had a orientation today and the G/T director mentioned something about many children came into K reading? Really?!? I don't know any of Caden's preschoolers that are reading!! He can recognize words, and he can actually spell pretty well.....but he's not "reading". Just took me off guard that she said that.
On the good note, she said that just because your child can "read" before entering K doesn't mean they are gifted or they will need to be in the program. I have a feeling Caden might because he acts up when he gets bored :/. ANd it happens way too easily :/
Edit: Apparently, I'm overthinking this. After reading some comments, apparently he's not nearly as "behind" as I thought! He CAN work through early readers like Hop on Pop and he understands punction VERY well! I was figuring "reading" meant he could fly through regular children's books I read to him LOL. He can read Hop on Pop well....just slowly LOL
