1st day of school and his teacher wants me to..
It was my son Mason's 1st day back at school. He is 4 [5 in october] in Special Ed pre -k program for autism thru the Public school systems here in town. It is his 2nd year in PreK [he's going to be in full time kindergarden next year due to birthday cut offs]
Well today, I packed him lunch. He has school 12-330pm He got a juice box, a baby banana and a half of a cheese sandwich. I was told in the summer he will need a lunch box for snack time and all that jazz on the supplies list.
Well TODAY he comes home with a classroom letter that says "Dear Parents, This year we will be doing group lunch. Every child will be assisgned a week when we will ask the parents to bring in lunch/snack for the week for all 10 children. This includes napkins for the week, cups for the week, 2 jugs of water, 2 jugs of Juice, a snack, and a half of sandwich. please choose from the list below due to food allergies"
I'm sorry what? I pay 12,000 dollars a year in property taxes for a 2 bedroom home in NJ for my town where they still can't "fit him him fulltime due to budget cuts" and now you are asking the parents AFTER being told in the summer make sure to buy alunch box you want us to FEED your students with our personal money?
I'm a little annoyed. I am not rich, i am not poor but I am also not working because I'm on bedrest due to being pregnant with baby #2 and have high risk issues and my medical bills are alot more then expected. We can afford our family with my savings and DH working until i give birth in december but i can't afford to feed 10 extra kids for a week ever month...
How would you feel / handle this? I don't feel i am over reacting by being annoyed.
