Stockings v.s. backpacks

What are your thoughts on having the kids clean out their backpacks to "hang with care" instead of stockings for Christmas?

Not something I woudl ever do because my stockings go up as part of my Christmas decorations. But it's not going to kill the Christmas spirit if thats what you chose to do. That's the beauty of the holidays, we all get to celebrate however we want.

Is this a new tradition? If so, my kids would probably be on board because a lot mire can fit into a book bag than a stocking......

Stockings are a part of our Christmas tradition. They have the same one since they were born. And we hang them Christmas eve along with a story we read before bed each year.

Umm no. Stockings are tradition and just not one to be changed

I personally wouldn't do it.  My boys backpacks get dirty quickly, so I'd have to wash them prior to using them as stockings and who wants to be doing laundry on Christmas Eve?  Not to mention that the stockings look much more festive than a backpack hanging by the fireplace.
