Hi,
I guess you could say I am new to this, even though I have been using cafe mom for quite sometime, I don't chat much.
I just found out my 4 yr old son is
allergic to wheat! I go see a specialist on the 14th!
So I'm trying to find mom that can give me some ideas, recipes, fun ideas to make our journey with this a little easier !
anything helps!
BTW, he is also allergic to milk.
wow! wish i could offer you some advice but thankfully there are no food allergies in my family. hopefully other moms will be able to give you advice. i'm sure if you do a google search you can find some recipes that accomodate the allergies & i'm sure there are books you can find on the subject. they have books on just about everything now. good luck!
Oh I wish I could be of more help but I have no experience with that allergy.
I am sure another mom will though.
That's tough. I don't know anything about it.
Have you looked for groups about food allergies on CM? I know there are some moms in this group who have kids with allergies. Hopefully they will have some good ideas.
I have an app with a specialist soon, I'm just looking for a mom working with something similiar...
It's really simple. Stick to whole foods instead of processed foods. If you still want processed foods, look for things that are gluten free. Stores have started getting more on board with gluten free products so they seem to be pretty easy to find. They can get expensive, though. You could check out gluten free recipes and make your own stuff as well.
As far as dairy goes..... No one needs dairy so that isn't an issue. Almond milk is a great alternative to baking and drinking, as is coconut milk.
You could also ask to get a reference to a nutritionist who specializes in food allergies.
There are tons of really great recipes that are gluten-free and dairy-free - Pinterest can be a fantastic resource!
god bless
