Old Mom here: is "sexy" the new trendy verbiage for beautiful??
So this is what my 7 & 6 year olds ( boys) have been saying lately, and I forbid it, just as songs with references to it. Example: Gangnum Style. Now, if sexy doesnt mean what it used to, perhaps I am wrong? It IS all over TV, even an M & M commercial. Thanks for your take and advice.
I really don't like kids saying it but its becoming more and more acceptable in society.
I don't know. I wouldn't say it is. I'd say it's the new word for "attractive". My child's dance teacher uses that word when the girls are dancing and they're doing it right. Im not a fan of it though.
I agree, I think some people are overeacting big time. I've always thought that "sexy" was just another word for someone being attractive. I tell me mom and sister that they are "sexy" when they dress up nice. As far as banning songs, I mean, come one, it's not like they're dropping f-bombs and talking about explicet sex acts! It's just a word that can be used silly-ly, like hotty, cutie, or something like that.

I think there's something wrong with me, I have no problem with the word sexy. It can mean someone's attractive or the old definition of sexy. Ds is always singing LMFAO and Gangnam Style and I have no issue with it.
It does make him sound like a pedophile.
I'm not sure I like that. Hopefully, by the time my son starts talking that word isn't really used all that much.

in answer to your question. yes it seems that it is interchangeble. however in my house we try not to use alot of slang. what really bothered me was when my SSs SF said my DD5 looked very sexy in her new jeans. that really bugged me. other people have said simaliar things too. i correct them. to me no one under the age of 16 should look "sexy" but thats just me. DH over heard and flipped. he thought it made SSs SF sound like pedopile.
