Hi ladies.
I would need some help on this issue. My son who is 6.5 years old refuse to go to the bathroom alone. this what happened 2 years ago. when summer times comes the crickets also arrive. you know those big black crickets with the crazy long legs.. so our guest toilet downstairs is right by the entree door and the crickets hop inside. so my son got scared of it two years ago and now he refuse to go in there alone. I putt a extension between tge crack of the door and the ground so they can't come in. but he is still scared. now he is scared to gi alone in any of our bathrooms. even upstairs. so I have to go with him and waite til he is done. When im not home he asks my sister. but he is not doing that in school. Or at any other place. so what should I do.

please forgive typos im on my phone and its auto correct some words and its hard to go back to edit them. thanks girls.

1 mom liked this

So he's afraid that crickets will be in the bathroom?  Have you tried going in to check for crickets and then letting his use the restroom alone once you tell him that it is all clear?  How about keeping a bottle of "cricket spray" in the bathroom for him to use, similar to "monster spray" in it being a spray bottle filled with water.

Poor guy :(.  MY son has a similar situation.  Halloween is the worst time for him because he's deathly afraid of skeletons!  He won't go anywhere near them!  When we had to get his presription from CVS, he woudln't walk in :/.  Luckily, the lady at the cash register said she'd keep an eye on him so I could get his brother's antibiotics!  He just stands at the door FROZEN!  WOn't even go if I hold him and let him close his eyes either!

But we are working on it.  I got him a skeleton shirt near Halloween :).  I also promised him if he got better about it, I would dance with a skeleton (and embarrass myself in public LOL).

Just take it slowly.  Try to think of things that will make the room seem better.  You know its about bugs, so see if you can find ways to make bugs seem less scary.  Give him a "bug zapper" flashlight to take with him.  So, when he turns on the light, he can "zap" the bugs.  They even make real bug zappers, but I don't know how safe they are for his age.

What are some things he does like?  Put those items in the batrhoom :)

Good luck!  Mainly just give him time.  Take it slowly :).  I can imagine how annoying it is though!

when I was a kid I was terrified from skeletons. I still hate them. my mother was a forensic pathologist and she had to work a lot. And my father was at the movie business out on sets for weeks at a time. grandma was sick. So she had to take me with her to work. I have to say my mom was a horrible terrible mother. Well I was at her job. she told me to stay in this room and color . the room had a big metal table in the middle and a table and chairs. also there was something in the corner standing up covered by a white sheet. she told me not to look underneath it and do not fallow her. so I set by the table and colored until I got bored then I gone to the corner and start pulling the sheet of this thing. putt its cut in something on it and I pulled the whole damn thing on top of me. I was on the floor and this skeleton in my arms with his face on my chast. needless to say I freaked out and start screaming bloody murrder. when my mom ran in with a plastic aporn and face protector splattered with blood. when I seen her I continued screaming and closed my eyes. I think I past out because. I woke up in another room on a couch. ever sense then I hate skeletons.
