to decide what you're giving up for Lent. Do you give up something for Lent? What will you be giving up this year?
The actual date of Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent) changes every year since the actual date of Easter changes yearly. Ash Wednesday is always 40 days prior to Easter. It would only be in March, when Easter is later in April.
Quoting AngelicMommy_72:
Dangit. I thought it started in March
Maybe next year?
Quoting steelcrazy:It started today.
Quoting AngelicMommy_72:
When does it start? maybe ill give up cokes??
Ahhhh, I don't eat cold cuts or tuna, so that would be why I never had to worry about that rule. I don't even recall hearing that one though. My doctor knows that I have a caffeine addiction and it really isn't healthy for me to go without it at this point. I get physically ill going without a regular dose of it.
Quoting GwenMB:Depending on who you ask, they recommend either giving up or limiting caffeine. I never did either with my pregnancies, but may if I get pregnant again because I think it does raise the m/c rate (and at my age, I don't need any help).
Then there are all the rules about cold cuts, tuna etc.
Quoting steelcrazy:Really? I never gave up anything that I enjoy while pregnant with the exception of alcohol. Luckily I quit smoking prior to getting pregnant. What else is there to give up due to pregnancy?
Quoting JenniL05:
I'm 3 months pregnant... I've already given up everything I enjoy. :D
I really don't recommend that for anyone who isn't pregnant. Giving up liquor could be deadly. lol
Quoting AngelicMommy_72:
Wait I'll. give up liquor!
Alrighty. Thanks for slamming my religion.
BTW - this is often said by those with absolutely no self control.
Quoting Buggy979:
I am giving up NOTHING. Lent is for the weak! !
The heck that's what lent is about isn't it

No, Lent isn't about putting yourself in a situation where you'd want to kill people. It is about making a personal sacrafice to better yourself.
Quoting AngelicMommy_72:
No no I think I'll be good I may have 1 or 2 situations that would be tempting

I don't give up anything other than the red meat on Ash Wednesday and Fridays. I'll eat fish, but greatly prefer beef, chicken, and pork, so being limited on menu choices is enough for me!
