talking at lunch

Are your kids allowed to talk at lunch? My son goes to a private school, and he says they aren't allowed to talk at lunch. He said one girl was sent to the office because of it. Not sure if he was telling the truth because he's quite the story teller, but I have been hearing that more lately, about kids not being allowed to converse during lunch.

My boys are able to talk at lunch.

They have time to talk when they're first sitting down, then they play music.  When the music comes on, they have to stop talking.

My girls are in public school and they eat lunch with their own grade. They are to be quiet until all classes have been through the lunch line and have sat down.  IF they were quiet at that time, they can talk quietly.  If they couldn't be quiet until then, lunch time is quiet until 5 minutes before leaving.  If they get too loud and obnoxious during talking time, they lose it until lunch is over.

Ridiculous and uncalled for!  No school that my kids have attended or I have taught at did not allow kids to talk during lunch.  I have also NEVER seen a school with "bars", iron or otherwise.
