Watching TV

I wanted to get some opinions.

Would any of you consider having a kindergardener watch  five, six hours ,and sometimes more of tv a day neglect?

 Neglect? No.

Using the TV as a "babysitter" ... Not great parenting either.

no but then again my kids used tv for white noise when they were 5/6 yrs old.

Not neglect, but not the best use of time either.

Bad parenting,yes.Not exactly neglect though.

 Nope, that isn't even close to being neglect.  However, it isn't the smartest parenting decision either.  I'm trying to figure out how there is even enough time in the day for a school aged child to watch that many hours of tv.

Hmmmm, neglect is perhaps too harsh, if the same child were told to read quietly in their room during their awake at home hours would that be neglect to you? Either way the parents aren't interacting with their child and the child isn't getting any exercise. It's not ideal for the child but I don't think cps would qualify it as neglect.

No not neglect but not smart either like others have said.  What type of television are they watching?  PBS sprout is 24 hr learning shows for children.
