Field Day, Field Trips, Awards Ceremonies oh my!

I am so bogged down with end of the year activities. From field trips to field day. Awards ceremonies to parent appreciation. PTA meetings to yearbook signing day and then of course the  year end carnival and auction.

Our school has so many fun functions these last couple weeks of school, that I wonder if the kiddos are even working in class anymore...lol

What type of year end fuctions is your school hosting or you/your child attending?

Usually this late in the year the kids aren't doing much. I wish the school near me did all that. All we have is an end of year award ceremony.

Everything you mentioned except the Carnival and Auction - at three different schools. Plus an end of the year dance. I wish they would have an "end of the year ceremony" for my 8th grader. The 5th grade ceremony was a big deal, it was late afternoon at a high school . The auditorium was packed, it felt like a real graduation and was almost as long.

Last week was Mobile Ag. Lab (tractor trailer sized classroom with all kinds of grade level agriculture experiments), Bike Rodeo was Wednesday, field trips X 3 (actually, each of them have multiple field trips that just happened or are coming up), awards' ceremony, carnival, band concert, track and field day (6th grade only and it is today), middle school orientation (just the 6th graders moving up to 7th of course lol), and the kids' favorite...

Step up day- the day before the last day of school. All of the kids move up a grade and meet their new teachers and classmates and spend a day following that grade's schedule.

That's all I can remember off hand. ;-)

Ah, yes, that's what I forgot. 6th grade has a "Moving On" party/dance.

It's crazy at our school! Wed. was the 2nd gr Insect Expo (ds2 did that last yr- in small groups, they research an insect, each student makes either model/diorama/poster of the insect, and they do a little presentation), yesterday was the 1st gr Young Authors Celebration ( dd did is this yr- they write and illustrate their own book, it's bound as a hardback, and in small groups, read their books to the parents), and today is the 3rd gr Specialty Fair (ds2's doing this- they spend the yr researching an animal (becoming a "specialist" on it), make power point and display board on it, and make a short presentation on it to the parents).

Next week is Once Upon A Cure. They raise money for different things each yr- this yr is for the Lupus Foundation. Last yr was to help fund decoration the rooms at the children's hospital. Yr before that was a certain kind of cancer. There is also a "field trip" for the students who will be going to the new elementary next school yr. They get to go tour the new school so it won't seem so strange when they start; dd will be going there, but not ds2 (current 3rd graders were given the option to stay at current school for their last yr of elem. next school yr and ds2 chose to stay where he is).

Yearbooks will be passed out the 2nd to last day of school, which is also their last spirit day- Kokomo Beach Day (no swimsuits allowed, but can bring in beach towels to sit on, wear hats and sunglasses, that sort of thing). Honors/awards program is the last day of school.

And that's not including ds1's activities at the middle school- field day today, 8th gr party tomorrow night, final orchestra concert of the year, and yearbooks at some point during the last few days of school. They do have an awards ceremony one of the last days, but ds1 never gets any of them, so I haven't paid attention to when it is.

My son had a field trip to the Fort Worth Museum yesterday and Field Day today. I can't remember what Monday is off the top of my head but there is something. Tuesday is another field trip for the kids who met their reading goal all year long. Awards are sometime next week. The Spring Fling and then Boot Scooting Day. Tons of fun stuff.

Next week is Spirit Week, each day has a different dress-up theme, and Field Day is next Wednesday.

I felt like we had a lot going on with preschool & Kindergarten graduations, one field trip and then just other church & volunteer groups I'm a part of activities thrown in.  I feel like I need to just block off the first couple weeks of May each year & know that I'll be busy with school stuff & shouldn't volunteer to do anything!  I can tell that this year was calm compared to future years when both boys are in full time school.
