1st Grade

We are in Oklahoma

My DD learned a ton, she is doing awesome with her math and reading.  She read 171 books this year and was 2nd in all the first graders for reading that many books.  I am super uber proud of her and love that she loves to read!!

My youngest is in 2nd grade

He learned tons. He's learned fractions, how plants grow, all about George Lucas (for a wax museum project) how to write poetry. It's been an awesome year.

1st grade this year

Ohio

She learned the ropes of being in a school and navigating the social parts of it but not a lot academically so she'll be in 3rd in the Fall. She did improve on her spelling and writing which are her two relatively weaker areas. :)

This has been a great year. My son is in fourth grade. They did their mission project. Every fourth grader studies a CA (our state) mission, it's history and does a presentation such as a model or report. He also read a million words this year. Their reading program calculates how many words are per book they read and they get into a "million word reader club." Was so proud of him for that one, last year he came close with 700,000, but didn't quite make it!

He learned SOOOOOOOOOO much this year and we are very proud of him.  He became an independent reader, has learned to tell time (on an "old fashion" clock lol), learned to count money, has neater handwriting than his 15 yr old sister and a ton of other things.

What did your kid learn this year?

A lot. He was introduced to tons of literature, he learned about Greek myths, several artists and their techniques (and he got to take a stab at reproducing them), California history, and more specifically the area we live in, types of music, and classical elements, he learned to convert fractions, lowest common denominator, angles, slopes, and geometry, reviewed basic algebra concepts, he learned about the solar system, and what bodies are in space...so much more.
