My 7 year old has a pilonidal tract

My daughter was diagnosed with a pilonidal tract. Apparently it's something she was born with and we just didn't notice it till now. Its in thr crease of her but and it has not turned into a cyst and she's not in pain at all. There is fluid leaking from it now and then. But the doctor said that's normal and that we shouldn't worry unless its hurting her. They said it could be something that never bothers her. Or that she may need surgery to remove it if it does causesend het pain one day. The doctor said she seemed ok for now and that he didn't want to do surgery on a child if he didn't have to. I'm still worried about it. He said to clean it everyday and make sure ot stays dry. Has anyone else had this happen with their child?

My 6 year old son has a pilonidal cyst. He was born with it. We had an MRI done because the Dr thought that he had a tethered spine (he didn't walk til he was close to 2) but fortunately, it wasn't the case.

So far, it hasn't caused him any issues.
