Do you have your kids do some type of school work everyday in the summer or do you give breaks?

2 moms liked this

Yes, but it's themed.  Monday we do math, Tuesday typing/computers, Wednesday writing, Thursday is library/book reports, etc.

Not every day. If they have camp, or we have something special going on we skip.

Otherwise, they do something each day.

They usually read before bed, but that's it. At least for ds2 and dd.

We're having ds1 take a summer school class online so he can have a study hall next school yr, so he's having to do some schoolwork everyday.

They each get a summer packet with reading and writing assignments. Our soon to be sixth grader may get a math packet too. One is doing a physics camp, the other is doing a STEM camp with CAE. And both are taking academic merit badges at scout camp so they will be doing pre reqs.

No school work like workbooks or anything formal. But we do tons of reading and activities that promote learning.

No, we only do schoolwork once a week. Besides reading, which is everyday. But on Sundays we do 1-2 hours in their workbooks.

Summer is for fun, they are at summer camp now until the second week of July, then we are traveling when they get home, swimming and a bunch of fun stuff. It's vacation time in our family.

yup.  Ds has academcs at camp and I still make him do Reading Plus and/or Successmaker on the weekends.  DD is responsible for reading, doing successmaker and/or Ticket to Read AND some math sheets.

Both will be writing reports/projects for their summer books.
