We live at the end of a cul-de-sac and the bus stop is at the corner. It is about 4 houses away.
She has to walk 20-30 feet perhaps to bus stop. other children have to walk a few blocks to get to the same stop. Our route is almost all apartment complex so the children have to decide which end they will catch the bus.
We literally walk across the street.
Our kids are out of distrcit for their school but the neighbor rides the bus and it stops at the stop sign at the end of our street, just a short little distance for us but right at the end of the driveway for her.
They all have to walk a few blocks to the bus stop. One is up the street and around the corner and the other two get on at the high school for the morning bus. All are dropped off at the high school in the evening.
My boys walk 1/4 mile down our road to the intersection with the main road to catch the bus. Going to school "out of district" isn't an option here unless you are willing to pay tuition.
My kids don't ride the bus. But when my oldest did, he had to walk to the end of the street.
Mom of four
My kids go from our back door into my husbands shop/office. They walk a total of 50 feet.
