get on the bus by yourself in the mornings?
Kindergarten, bus stop was right by our house and there was a group of kids.
1st or 2nd grade I think. I had to walk to school for Kindergarten (mid-70's) and actually had to walk across a busy highway. There was me, plus several of my schoolmates that lived in the same trailer court my family lived in. I can remember us standing by the row of mailboxes, waiting for when it was time for us to walk (it was good long walk too...well at least for a 5 year old, LOL). I remember my older brother coming by on his bike once and yelling at me for something. Gosh, amazing I can remember that and I forget something that happened last week. I'm getting old, LOL.
Oh, but the school bus thing, that doesn't stand out too well for me. I think because other than that year I didn't ride a bus to school again until 4th grade because we're we lived in Germany it was close enough for me to walk to school (we moved back to the US between 3rd and 4th grade).
I never did. There was never a time that I had to. I either walked to school or my granny took me to the bus stop.
