My boy is 7 and he keeps asking me to have a sleepover with his best friend. The mom of his friend keeps inviting him and I keep finding excuses for him to don't go. She's a very nice lady but I don't know her that well and the father I don't know him at all. I don't wanna prive him but on the other hand , I had a bad experience as a child on a sleepover( child abuse) .Do you allow your children?

Yes but I have to know the people well and I prefer to have the sleepovers at our house.

Go meet the parents and introduce yourself. Go to there home and insure its clean and safe. Ask questions like where will they sleep? Will people be drinking or smoking around the kids? My big one is are there guns in home and are they locked up. Don't be shy. You're trusting them with your kid. Honesty if I don't feel comfortable with the parent I wouldn't allow my kid over there.

My oldest started around age 7. We had moved when he was 6 and waited until he met friends from Cub scouts.

DD started.at age 4 with siblings of my oldests Cub den. By then we had known them for ages!

I am pretty strict so all sleepovers have been families that were in GS or BSA with my kids and I know the parents were background checked.
