What color ink should be used?

To correct papers, homework, tests etc?

Every so often, I see a story about teachers being told to not use red ink for correcting because "it's too mean". Of course, whatever color they switch to will soon be perceived as "mean"!

What do you think? Should teachers use a color other than red?

Red is appropriate. Your right any color would be perceived as "mean". It don't matter really. i had one teacher in school who graded papers in Orange ink. Didn't matter to me because I was still being corrected. Lol

Red is fine. Our kids teachers use red and other colors and I prefer the papers marked in red. It's just easier to see.

Red. It's worked for years. Didn't damage me. People should stop over protecting their little snowflakes.

Red isn't going to cause years of damage, it will let them know they messed up.

I used to take piano lessons. When I would forget a note or make a mistake, the teachers would circle it to remind me. Once, I just couldn't remember, I made the same mistake over and over. So she got out a red pencil crayon and circled it. That got my attention and I finally got it. Sometimes, you just need to bigger reminder.

This teacher uses red. I think trying to make kids "feel better" by using a different color is crap. If a student missed something, then they need it pointed out to them. This topic makes me see red! Pun intended.

I personally use whatever color I happen to pull out of my pen box.

I used lots of colors, whatever was handy. Sometimes that was red, sometimes purple, sometimes green.

This whole self-esteem education still trickling in from the 80s needs to die.

I used red or purple when I graded (back in the say lol).

The main thing I care about is visibility. Red is the best for that.

I could not care any less about what color of ink is on my kiddo's papers. Whatever makes the teacher happy, IMO.
