Best binder?

Even though I'm currently in college, I use nothing but notebooks for notes.  My oldest son needs 4 3 ring binders for his first year of jr. High. I have bought one staples brand one but don't have experience with any other brands.  So I am asking what is the best brand?

Ps if it makes a differance I am looking at d ring binders.

What size? 1"? 1 1/2"? etc

If you're going to get 1" I'd suggest those "floppy" ones - the covers don't stay flat, they kind of bend with however you move them.

1 1/2" (I don't think they have the "floppy" ones in anything but 1") I'd suggest the Avery Durables.

1 1/2.  I want something that's a decent size but not huge.

Thanks! I was thinking about the Avery but wasn't sure about the edges.  They aren't reinforced like the staples ones so I was wondering if they tend the rip at the seams.

Honestly I would get the cheap ones. They will last a year unless he's super rough on them. They can get very pricey and the quality will be better. But most kids wreck them and want new ones for next year anyway.

My 8th grader uses Mead Five Star Flex Notebinders.  They are guaranteed to last all year, and they honestly do.  I got them in a two pack at Sam's Club for about $10 per pack.

We actually have 2 of these.  I wasn't sure if it would be acceptable as a binder.  I never even thought they were a binder honestly.  I always figured they were a fancy notebook. Lol

last year I got cheap ones from target and it broke in a week (the rings stopped opening) We need 2 1 1/2 in ones not sure where I am going this year. They have to be hard cover too.

I usually get Avery Brand ones.
