Do You Take Your Children To An Annual Well Care??

Do you take your child to a yearly well care visit? Or do you only go to the doctor when they are sick?

If you don't take them is it because of insurance or because you don't see the benefit of them?

Neither my mom or grandmother went to the doctor's unless it was an emergency. However they were both raised as migrants. My mom used the ER as our family doctor despite the fact that she had health insurance. However when my brother was born 10 years later she got into the routine of making and keeping his yearly visit with a ped.

Both my girls go to the dentist 2x a year and their ped for a well care once a year. Our insurance covers it and prevenative care  just seems like the best and right thing to do.

Yes I take them to their Well Child visits, and to the Dentist 2x a year. I feel it's child neglect to NOT do this.

My parents made sure me and my siblings had our well child checks, and dental visits. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I'm awesome about the dentist every 6 months... my oldest did not go last year as I just kept forgetting to make the appt...they're never sick so I just don't think about going to the doctor. The dentist makes appts every 6 months when we are there which is why I'm so good about those. I *did* just make them both an appt on Nov. 10th for their well checks for this year though.

We do the well child visits, it definitely doesn't hurt to!

Definitely!  My kids also have always needed annual physicals for sports and camps.

I normally do. The dentist is easy since the next appointment is scheduled at the last one - I can't forget to make the appointment. I did do their well child visits 6 months late for the older boy & 9 months late for the younger boy this last time, though. It was nice to just bring both in at the same time, though.

We are very good at doing the dentist twice a year becuase I can make the next appointment when we are done.  Pediatrician well-checks are another story!  I intend to do them every year, but don't always get around to making the appointment unless one of them has to have a physical form filled out for something.  My boys rarely get sick enough to require a trip to the doctor's office so we sometimes don't go for a year or two.

MY SIL has three kids ages 7, 5, 3 She was telling me that she doesn't see the benefit in them so she stopped going to them. Plus she admitted to forgetting about them and compared them to an OB appt.

Which I have to admit I haven't been there in over a year. So I can see how one would forget and miss. Especially if your Ped doesn't call/text/email like mine does.

Yes they both do. The 17 yr old just had hers and the 11 yr old goes in November. We do dental every 6 months, the dentist sends me a reminder about 1 month prior which is the best way for me because 11 yr old has lots of specialists to see. I'm usually at the family dr at least 2 more times during the yr.

Yes.
My children have an annual physical and go to the dentist twice a year. They also go to the eye doctor once a year and two of them go to the allergist once a year.
