Moving soon

My child is a kindergartener. Just wondering your opinion. Let her finish the year out or move now? We can do either one , it's not a problem.

Just don't want to stress her out. She can easily make friends.

I'd love at the end of the year. Give her the summer to settle in, and start the year fresh. Moving is already such a big change for a kid, why make it more difficult by adding a new school into the mix right off the bat?

I was just too lazy to go back and edit my typo in the first reply.

That's what I'm thinking. My hubs is the one that wanted to move now.

I moved a lot when I was little and was forever the "new kid" coming in the middle of the year. As a parent, it was really important for me not to do that to my kids.

We are a military family where moving has been part of our life.  Also, we have moved within a posting before.

If at all possible, move in the summer.  This will allow for the least amount of school upset (academics, friends, routine, etc).  If that is not possible, sometimes you just have to move when you have to move.

Another military family checking in. I always try to make sure we move during school breaks. Summer preferably, but I've also moved (cross country) over Christmas break. Once they're school age it's best to limit how much school they'll miss. So if possible I would wait until the end of the year. If not, kids are resilient.
