How much sleep does your 3rd grader/9 year old get? Do you feel it's enough?

My youngest is 7 and in 2nd grade ( will start 3rd grade in a couple of weeks as we homeschool) and she goes to bed around 10-10:30 and will wake up around 8:45-9:30 most days. My oldest is 10 and will go to bed at the same time, but she is an early riser like myself. She will naturally just wake up around 7:15 most mornings.

My 3rd grader/8 year old has a school night bedtime of 8:00.  My 5th grader/11 year old is at 8:30.  Both girls get up at either 6 or 7 am.  They probably get about 9 to 10 hours depending when they fall asleep.

DD is 8 in 3rd grade she needs about 10 hours of sleep at night but she has always been a morning person. DS is 7 in 2 nd grade he needs closer to 12 hours sleep he isn't a morning person.

Dd is 12 and Dd is 10. They go to bed by 9-9:30 and get up at 7:30. They need their sleep or they are not fun to be around.

When mine were in 3rd gr, bedtime was at 9 p.m, and they got up at 7:30 a.m. As long as they didn't stay up very long reading, it was enough sleep for them. Dd, 4th gr, is still on this schedule, but she tends to stay up later reading, so she doesn't get the full 10.5 hrs sleep; she seems to be doing ok on 9.5-10 hrs sleep.

I would say between 10 and 12 hours at that age.  My youngest is 12, he goes to bed at 9:30 and wakes up at 8:00 and is still in that 10-12 hours of sleep range.  On weekends and breaks he typically gets 12 hours.

Thanks for the replies. I'm have been stuck in the mindset that he still needs like 12 hours of sleep.

He gets about 9/10 hours most nights and functions fine. He just gets up so early, goes downstairs, watches t.v.and has breakfast before I'm even awake. I wasn't sure if it was common at his age. Obviously I know it varies from child to child but I was curious what seemed average for his age.

Thanks again. I'll stop worrying about it

My daughter will be in 3rd grade next year and I plan on keeping the 8pm bedtime, up at 6:30-7am.
This year, she has been sleeping past 7 am, which is pretty 'late' for her track record.
