How this works is simple: do not list your child's name here. List
information like age/grade, boy/girl, interests, favorite color, tv
show, etc but not school information or names. Anyone who is interested
should reply directly to you. Not here.
People who
are not cafemom members can read posts so your personal information is
visible (or at least whatever you post about here is).
I would
suggest if anyone is wary of exchanging information online that you
possibly send a few emails back and forth at first before exchanging
addresses. Just remember this is the internet and it is a public group
before you post anything too personal.
Also, I would say that
email penpals are just as cool especially for those who are younger
(like the K and 1st graders) who are looking for friends but you want
to monitor it for awhile to see how it goes. (ecards are cool and
free!) Simple exchange email addresses and you are on your way!
An example post might look like this:
I have DD in the first grade, she likes the color purple, arts and crafts, Girl scouting, and princesses.
Get the idea?
Have fun and if you have questions, send me a message!
My daughter is 7 and will be 8 in March. She is in the 2nd grade and loves school. She loves Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers and loves to sing to many different songs. She likes Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana and other shows like those. Her favorite color is red and she loves to read books. She has started to enjoy spelling and wants to spell very hard words. She would love to have a pen pal that uses snail mail because she loves to receive things in the mail.
I have a 7 yr old son in 2nd grade. He plays ice hockey. He enjoys watching NASCAR & hockey. He likes to play with cars and build things. His favorite movies are Transformers, Jurassic Park, Spiderman and Star Wars. He loves the computer. There's so much more I could list, but I think this will do for now.
I have a daughter who will turn 8 in just a couple of weeks. She is in 2nd grade and LOVES school. She enjoys reading, teaching her brother things she has learned in school, dressing up, and playing outside. She doesn't watch much TV and does not play video games, she would much rather play outside. We live in a small town and ona street with several kids so she rides her bikes and plays with the neighbor kids whenever she can. She is very kind, loves to help, and loves to make new friends.
My son is 5 and is in Kindergarten. He is surrounded by sisters and only has one boy on our street to play with so really enjoys the chance to play with other boys. He loves cars, towing things, anything to do with fire trucks, etc (his dad is a volunteer fireman). He wants outside to play as much as possible. He also does not have any video games and does not watch much TV. He is very active, running around, riding bikes, playing, etc. He loves to help people.
Both of my kids get excited when they have mail so I think this is a great idea.
I have a 7 yr. old daughter in first grade. ( bc of her birthday ). Her name is Melinda and she loves horses, reading, writing, school, music ( hannah montanna, jonas brothers, Taylor Swift ) and she loves to draw. She has asthma so doing alot of running still kinda scares her. She is very smart and gets along with everyone. She is kinda shy so I think this would be something she would love to do.
