can anyone help all leaves r turning white but cues r growing very well had 3 of already and taste nice
Can you brush the white off? If so, its powdery mildew.
If the leaves are crinkly in the white area, it's okay. Your plants were stressed, possibly by cold night temps.
Cucumbers and other members of the vine family (squash, melons, etc) do not like to be "put to bed wet" so if you are watering them late in the day... stop. Water them in the morning and preferrably with a soaker hose, not a overhead sprinkling system. The leaves will wither and mildew from overwatering them. The plants prefer to have the soil soaked around them but not to be wet at night when the temps drop. Also, make sure the mulch you are using is "clean" - not mucky and prone to mildewing. There are products on the market to use for powdery mildew but you can mix up your own and save lots of $$.
Remove the bad leaves and destroy them... not in your compost or on the ground- trash them. Then, (from the Jerry Baker's Garden Secrets book:)
mix together: 4 tbsp of baking soda, 2 tbbsp of Murphy's Oil soap, and 1 gal. of warm water.
pure into a handhelf mist sprayer and apply liberally when you see white sponts on the plants.
I hope this is helpful : ) Good luck
thanks will try that cheers
