This year, do to ill health, I am not able to get out the tiller (except for the mantis)and work my both my big gardens. i have decided to try the bag garden in place of one of them. I have always used the "square foot garden" method. So I am hoping this is just another version. Our winter(WV) here was extremely warm so the soil is really not up to a lot of work this year anyhow. i have already planted 10 bags full of lettuce, peas and collards. made a chicken wire tepee over them so the chickens won't decided to scratch lol. i will be planting more today. has anyone ever grown in the bags your soil came in? Any hints?
I haven't tried this method, but it would sure be great for someone that can't get out to work the ground, like you, or someone that doesn't have a lot of time or space.
I planted onions in soil bags this year, they are growing like crazy!!
I haven't but that sounds great! I have some window boxes that I am using for salads but thats about it.
