Anyone tried or planning to do this?
We got everything set up last year (used the box on legs, less bending), and then DH got injured and we didn't get it set up in time to really start anything. So we're trying again this year. We only have the one 8'x4' box, and will also grow tomatoes and potatoes separately, and are really looking forward to it.
Also, container gardening as well. Anyone doing this? Tell me about it. Pics are a plus!
Psalms 19:14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
I've looked at it but never tried it because we have plenty of garden space. I do follow bed plantings, which is similar. You can sure get a good harvest compared to planting in rows!
I planted potates and onions in tubs last year. With the potatoes, I didn't provide a barrier on the bottom of the tub (more like a large section of pipe) and the mice were able to get in and eat from every last potato. GRRR! The onions did GREAT in shallow tubs (6 inches deep). I also grew cherry tomatoes in an Earth box container and that was really the only tomato that produced last year. I've grown lettuce and peppers in ice cream pails, and I've grown peas several times along our fenceline so they wouldn't take up space in the garden. They did very well, producing TWO crops that year!
I have done container gardening. last year was my first year. mother nature worked against me. I am doing square foot gardening this year. my potaotes I am going to plant in a box of 4 pallets and take the lower boards off of one and make like a door and keep pulling out of the bottom. take that dirt and add it to the top. it is something I found on pinterest.
