Onions and flowers?

Bought some sweet onion bulbs today, was wondering if we can plant them in our flower bed. There are no flowers in it yet.

Excellent idea!  The onions will take a while to mature, but in the meantime they're reputed to repel aphids, such as those that chow on rose bushes.  They'll be a natural pest control.

and it helps keep the deer out of the flowers
